Blade Runner on Mac: the original GOG game, tested through Lautta

We played the original 1997 GOG release on a Mac through Lautta and loaded the same save after a new Play launch.

Local test, not a public download

We tested this route on a development Mac. Lautta’s public installer is still being prepared.

What was the problem?

The owned GOG Mac package contained the original game data with an older Intel engine. We wanted to verify a current native route on Apple Silicon while leaving the downloaded package and saves untouched.

What did Lautta change?

Lautta’s isolated QA route used the owned game resources with a separately verified, current macOS ScummVM engine. It kept game configuration and saves in a game-specific local area. We extracted the offline package without running its installer scripts.

What did we verify?

The tester confirmed intro video, gameplay graphics, audio and controls. They saved the game, exited, opened it again from Lautta Play, and loaded the same save into the correct game situation.

What remains unverified?

This is one local test on a MacBook Air M5 with 16 GB of memory. The QA import route and engine are not included in a public Lautta release, and GOG account downloads from Lautta are not available. The Enhanced Edition was not tested.
